5G Antennas: Solutions for Electronic Countermeasure and Communication Applications
This article delves into a selection of antennas specifically designed to cover 5G frequencies. From the steerable beam capabilities of our SBA3438B-DP to the high gain features of the HD730Q and HD727XM, and the wideband performance of the WD28P, we explore how these antennas offer good solutions for various applications in electronic warfare (EW) and communication domains.
SBA3438B-DP - Dual Polarized Steerable Beam MIMO Antenna for 5G
The SBA3438B-DP is designed to operate within the 5G 3.4 to 3.8 GHz frequency band. Supporting dual ±45° slant polarizations, it caters to MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) usage. The antenna boasts fast beam steering to optimise gain direction and minimise interference. It offers up to 20 beams with a minimum beamwidth of 18 degrees to cover a full 360-degree horizontal area. Beyond the sharp beam mode, the antenna also supports wide and quasi-omni modes.
- Dual ±45° slant polarizations for MIMO support
- Fast beam steering for 5G complex node and Mesh networks
- Spectrum efficiency with directional gain and interference minimisation
HD730Q - High Gain Manpack Antenna
The HD730Q covers both 4G LTE and 5G low-band frequencies. Designed for portable communication and jamming applications, its centre-fed design reduces human body interference on antenna performance.
- Compact electrical design
- Performance optimised for 4G LTE and 5G low-band
- Rugged construction with shock absorption spring
HD727XM - High Gain Vehicle Antenna
The HD727XM is an omni antenna covering GSM, 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G bands. Ideal for high-power jamming applications, it features a high-power rating and a shock absorption spring for added durability.
- High power rating (starting from 175W)
- Performance optimised across multiple frequency bands
- Rugged construction with shock absorption spring
- No ground plane required
WD28P - Wideband UHF/SHF Portable Antenna
The highly compact WD28P offers omnidirectional radiation across the entire 2 – 8 GHz frequency range.
- Omnidirectional radiation across frequency range
- Rugged radome protected construction
- No ground plane required
These antennas cater to specific needs in the 5G landscape, providing good performance and reliability for applications like counter-RCIED / jamming and communications.
